Require receipts on transactions in J.P. Morgan Next

Steps to require receipts on transactions in J.P. Morgan Next, how to toggle the requirement on virtual cards, and allowing missing receipts.

Next User Type: Admin

As an admin, you can manage when receipts are required for transactions in J.P. Morgan Next by creating a Receipt requirements policy. All receipt settings in a policy apply to all budgets or cards where that policy has been assigned.

Receipt requirements policies included when receipts are required, selecting a transaction amount that triggers a receipt requirement, and allowing missing receipts.


Require receipts from a web browser

  1. In the Navigation Menu, select Policies

  2. In the Guidelines section, select Receipt requirements

  3. Select New policy

    • To edit an existing policy, select the Options (three dots) icon for the policy and select Edit policy

  4. Enter a name for your policy

  5. Select when receipts are required:

    • Never: receipts are not required for any transactions, but spenders can still upload receipts if desired

    • Always: receipts are required for every transaction from budgets or cards associated with the policy

    • Based on transaction amount: receipts are only required for transactions greater than or equal to a selected amount in budgets or cards associated with the policy

  6. If you selected the Based on transaction amount option, enter the amount in the Require receipts for transactions over field.

    • Note: If you enter $100, all transactions from associated budgets or cards greater than or equal to $100 require receipts. Transactions less than $100 do not require receipts.

  7. If you selected the Always or By transaction amount option, you can allow missing receipts by selecting Allow missing receipts

    • Note: If this option is enabled, spenders can designate a receipt as lost/missing or unavailable and enter an explanation.

  8. Select Save policy

  9. Assign the policy to a budget or card
