Find user role or budget attribute in J.P. Morgan Next

View steps for finding your role in Next or which attribute you have been assigned within a budget.

Next User Role: All

In J.P. Morgan Next, roles and attributes determine the actions that any user can perform. User roles (administrator, bookkeeper, and member) relate to an entire organization in Next.

Attributes (budget owner and budget member) are specific to individual budgets.

Assistants can be assigned to Next users in any user role. They can view and complete transactions on behalf of the user they are assisting.


Find user role from the mobile app

  1. From the Next Navigation Bar, tap More

  2. Tap your username

  3. Find the Personal Information section

  4. The Role field displays your role

    • Note: Only admins can edit roles in Next.


Find budget attribute from the mobile app

  1. In the Next Navigation Bar, tap Budgets

    • If the Budgets icon is not in your Navigation Bar, tap More, then tap Budgets

  2. Find the budget:

    • Budgets where you are a budget owner are indicated by the Owner label

    • Budgets where you are a budget member do not display a label

Note: If you do not see any budgets listed, you have not been added to a budget.


Find user role from a web browser

  1. In the Next Navigation Menu, select My account

  2. The Overview tab displays by default

  3. In the Account information section to the right of the screen, your role will be listed

    • Note: Only admins can edit roles in Next


Find budget attribute from a web browser

  1. In the Next Navigation Menu, select Budgets

  2. Select the budget

  3. Find your name in the Budget members section

    • For budgets where you are a budget owner, a Crown icon displays next to your name

    • For budgets where you are a budget member only, no icon is displayed

Note: If you do not see any budgets listed, you have not been added to a budget.
