As an added layer of security, J.P. Morgan Next offers Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for account logins. Each person needs to complete their MFA setup to log in to Next.
An authenticator app is a mobile or web app that is separate from the Next mobile app. It is used to generate time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
Instead of a text verification, you'll enter a time-sensitive code from your authenticator app to log in. If you select "Remember this browser" (not in incognito/private mode), you won't need MFA every sign-in. Clearing cookies or using incognito may prompt MFA again. The six-digit code is required on new/unremembered browsers or after 180 days
Set up authenticator MFA from a web browser
Install the authenticator app of your choice and add an account/method for J.P. Morgan Next
When attempting to log in, you are presented with the MFA Registration screen
Scan the QR code using your authenticator app to complete setting up Next in your authenticator app
Note: If you do not have the ability to scan the QR code, you can also select Can’t scan it? to get a unique code you can manually input it into your preferred authenticator app.
Once Next is set up in your authenticator app, you will see a six-digit code that will change when the timer runs out.
Enter this six-digit code into the Enter Verification Code field before the timer runs out on the MFA registration page
Select Remember this browser so you not are required to complete MFA again for 180 days
Note: The “remember this browser” setting may not function properly in an incognito browser, if cache and cookies are cleared, or if a major software update occurs on your browser.
Select Done
Set up authenticator MFA on a mobile device
Install the authenticator app of your choice and add an account/method for Next
When attempting to log in, you will be presented with the MFA Registration screen
Copy and paste the MFA key into your authenticator app to complete setting up Next in your authenticator app
Once Next is set up in your authenticator app, you will notice a six-digit code that will change after the timer runs out
Enter this six-digit code into the Enter Verification Code field before the timer runs out on the MFA registration page.
